Regarding Wei Feng-He, Minister of National Defense of the People’s Republic of China, mentioning that “If Anyone Dares to Separate Taiwan from China, the People’s Liberation Army Will Have No Choice but to Fight Until the End” on The Shangri-La Dialogue, Ministry of National Defense has solemnly stated that Wei Feng-He’s statement emphasized People’s Republic of China’s essence of exhausting all resources to build up its military power, and has caused severe threats to the peacefulness and safety of the Taiwan Strait and regions. Republic of China is an independent country, and an important member of maintaining peacefulness, stability, and safety in the Asia-Pacific. The Republic of China Armed Forces “Do Not Initiate Combats, and are Not Afraid of Combats”, stand firm at the determination of self-defense, construct military forces and prepare for combats, effectively exert the joint overall combat force of citizens, and adhere to the belief of “Fight for the Survival and Development of Republic of China, and Fight for the Safety and Welfare of Citizens from Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Mazu”.

Ministry of National Defense emphasized that when faced with the constant verbal intimidation and saber rattling from the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of China Armed Forces will implement President Tsai’s instruction of “No Compromise on National Sovereignty and No Retreat on Liberal Democracy”, and uphold the military strategy of “Tenacious Defense, Multiple-layered Deterrence”, to continue reinforcing critical defensive combat forces, and ensure that the achievement of national security, democracy, and freedom will not be violated.
